Okay so now it's my first time typing on this. So we got to Honduras and what's the first thing we see? a gazillion hills of course. apparently like 75 percent or something crazy like that of honduras is at a 25% grade. next thing to see? huge walls everywhere. As well as GIANT fast food restaurants. like 3 story tall Church's Chicken. (There was a point in Tegucigalpa where on one block there was, in order and all huge, Dominos, McDonalds, Burger King, Dunkin' Donuts, Wendy's, Pizza Hut (sorry mom), and Popeye's. I thought Louisiana was bad with the fast food. We have nothing on Honduras. we went pretty much immediately to Roatan (which Brandon has already written about, but I'm going to write a little more. Deal with it.) Living on mostly baleadas (kind of like a quesadilla with beans and whatever else; Brandon was obsessed with chicken and avocado), we adventured Roatan. Stayed the first few days with Carlos, our CouchSurfing friend whose job is to take pictures for tourism around the island (good person to show us around). Everyone there was super friendly, not to mention the beaches were absolutely gorgeous. I had NO intention of scuba-ing, as anyone who knows me can say that I am terrified of water. Oh yeah, Kayla got certified. I basically got talked into doing a discover scuba course which is like learning the basics then go for a dive. I was barely at the surface after my first dive and told the intructor I was going through the whole course. Amazing. Just holy crap. I was like a little kid, just like look at that! look at that! Got to see 3 sea turtles as well as just a bunch of beautiful fish and plants! At the scuba shop was this little girl, Layla, rhymes with Kayla, you see why she immediately decided I was her new best friend. She then told me the entire story line of pinocchio, her favorite book, Shrek, her favorite movie, and The Little Mermaid, apparently her life. Oh yes, I met a real live mermaid. She has two houses, one above ground and one underneath. I think my favorite quote from her was to Brandon :We're going to a party...(under her breath) a human party. Too cute! We tried Conch soup, which was pretty tasty. The end of Roatan.
Copan was nice, but not really an intense amount to talk about. We saw the ruins which were really cool and very pretty. But thats really about it.
The bus to Lago Yojoa was an interesting trip. I personally have never really travelled like this but this is basically how it went. We get scrambled on to a bus that we think is going to the right place. Note, the only gringos in sight. Put our bags on top, only to realize after we have left that we think he tied our bags down. We are getting sold all of these different foods and drinks through the windows when we slow down enough for someone to get on or off. How do you know the bus is coming? A worker is hanging out the door whistling and yelling the destination. But we made it, as well as our things, for a whopping 4 dollars.
